Thought I'd add the anecdote about this gate - the entrance to the main collegiate quads. There are actually three gargoyles on either side below the top gargoyle. They tell the myth of the college student, entering as a first year student full of trepidation, gaining some stature second year, frought with work the third year, and high atop all during the fourth year at graduation. You can see it really well in the winter. Be sure to check out botany pond inside the gate on the right.
